Ground Work

The term "groundworks" refers to all work performed to prepare subsurface for the initiation of a construction project. Another way to put it is that groundwork is the collection of tasks associated with the preliminary excavations that lead to the laying of the foundations. It also includes tasks like cabling and drain laying; depending on the project, it may also involve the laying of utility installations, such as telephone lines, gas pipes, fiber optic cables, and water pipes. In addition to any necessary site-enabling work or demolition, groundworks are typically the first stage of a construction project and can include any of the following types of groundwork:
